Our Mission
At WMMHA, our mission is simple: to provide local, competitive, and fun hockey programs in Etobicoke. We achieve this by:
- Offering a range of competitive hockey opportunities for youth in all divisions, from A to AA, Select, and House League.
- Fostering the development of hockey skills, knowledge, and sportsmanship for players, coaches, and staff alike.
- Building good character, citizenship, and sportsmanship through the values of minor hockey.
Our History
Founded in 1962 by the Cloverdale Merchant’s Association, West Mall Minor Hockey Association (WMMHA) began as the West Mall Wolves. In 1993, we rebranded as West Mall Lightning, continuing to offer a variety of hockey programs including House League, Select, and A & AA divisions in Etobicoke. We’re proud to be a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to serving local youth through the love of hockey.
Our Structure
The West Mall Minor Hockey Association (WMMHA) operates as a not-for-profit organization within the Greater Toronto Area. We are governed by our Constitution and By-Laws, which are reviewed and updated regularly. Our Executive Board is made up of elected and appointed roles, including the President, General Manager, Vice President of House League, Treasurer, and Directors. We encourage all players and parents to familiarize themselves with the important documents on our website.
Our Divisions
WMMHA offers four distinct levels for players: AA, A, Select, and House League. Each level plays in different leagues, providing opportunities for competitive play at all skill levels:
- AA and A teams compete in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL).
- Select teams play in the NYHL, MHL, or CDP.
- House League is focused locally within Etobicoke.
All levels are governed under the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and Hockey Canada.
